Quantum computers of the future with IQM
IQM develops and manufactures quantum computers and provides hardware and software solutions that leverage the potential of quantum computing in various applications. Netum Consulting (formerly Buutti Oy) has been collaborating with IQM since 2021 and has been involved, for example, in software development for instrumentation electronics and microwave control electronics.
We have been involved in several IQM projects. In one project, our consultant focused mainly on developing user space device drivers and their abstractions, as well as improving the system infrastructure. The tasks included designing new features and clarifying requirements in collaboration with physicists and hardware developers. Our consultant contributed expertise in areas such as modern C++, Python, architecture, FPGA development, radio technology, signal processing, and POSIX interfaces.
In another project, our consultant has contributed firmware development expertise. His work has covered a wide range of tasks, from writing device drivers to assembling firmware packages. In addition, he has developed a software library that provides a high-level interface for hardware control.
– In the lab, I have become familiar with electronics debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Outside the lab, I mainly use Emacs as well as C++ and Python, our consultant says.
Developers from Netum Consulting do not only bring technical expertise to the table; they have also demonstrated excellent communication skills while working with IQM’s team and other stakeholders. Netum employees have been open to new ideas and solutions, which has promoted innovation and effective collaboration.
– Working with IQM has been exciting! There is always something new to learn in the project and an opportunity to innovate, as technologies related to quantum computers are evolving rapidly, summarizes our developer Joonas Kylmälä.
We are proud to be involved in developing future technologies together with IQM.
